CUPON Clarkstown Raises Concerns Over Development In West Clarkstown Road Corridor-- Are Town Officials Listening? --

Thank you to the Rockland County Business Journal for the below article which highlights CUPON Clarkstown’s efforts to raise awareness about the number, and scale, of developments being proposed along the West Clarkstown Road corridor and nearby roads.

ASHAR is just part of the “big” picture, which includes at least six proposed developments in the West Clarkstown Road corridor -- including a proposed 600-student private school at 31-41 West Clarkstown Road, and a 200,000+ square foot facility for 55 And Over Housing at the site of the former Champion Day Camp site, also on West Clarkstown Road.

Is Clarkstown serious about its goal of safeguarding neighborhoods from over-scaled development, as indicated in their Comprehensive Plan? These are all sizable projects that will test our roads, water supply, sewer capacity, and will forever change the nature of this residential area.

Watch this space for further information on Town meetings about these and other upcoming projects. We urge local residents to get involved, attend public meetings, and make your concerns known to Town officials.

You can also donate to CUPON Clarkstown in support of our efforts in protecting the suburban and semi-rural character of our neighborhoods.

Donations can be sent through PayPal at www.paypal.com/biz/fund?id=LL2A2GGCHN6LL, or by check (made payable to "CUPON Clarkstown") and mail to P.O. Box 52 Nanuet NY 10954.
