Great news: the Governor has signed my code enforcement official integrity legislation into law.
Ensuring fire safety and restoring proper code enforcement are issues that have been my top priorities, and the signing of this legislation is key toward reaching that goal. This bill simply gives the State an authority that they should already have and it provides accountability for those that should be keeping us safe. I am pleased several years of work and raising the alarm has paid off. The law will go into effect on the ninetieth day, March 19, 2018.
I want to thank Governor Cuomo for recognizing how important this issue is. This legislation will help provide another necessary level of oversight to make sure that our communities are safe.
